How this calculator works

Florida wage income tax is shown as $0. Federal withholding follows your pay frequency and W-4 entries. Retirement, qualifying pre-tax benefits and post-tax deductions are entered separately. This model assumes wages subject to Florida treatment; work or residence in another state may create additional obligations.

Example calculation

A Florida employee paid $25 per hour for 80 hours biweekly earns $2,000 gross. With a Single W-4 and no adjustments or benefit deductions, estimated take-home pay is $1,690.85. The Florida wage income-tax line is $0.

2026 methodology & assumptions

For regular U.S. employee wages with a 2020-or-later W-4. This estimate uses 52 weekly, 26 biweekly, 24 semi-monthly or 12 monthly pay periods. Federal withholding follows IRS Publication 15-T Worksheet 1A. Amounts are rounded to cents.

Social Security uses a $184,500 wage limit and 6.2% employee rate; Medicare uses 1.45%. Additional Medicare withholding is 0.9% on wages above $200,000 paid by the same employer, regardless of filing status. Enter year-to-date taxable wages before this paycheck to model those thresholds.

California uses EDD Method B annualization, including DE 4 allowances and 1.3% uncapped SDI. Period-specific tables may differ slightly because of rounding. Supplemental wages, nonresident-alien adjustments, self-employment tax, local taxes, special exemptions, and multi-state allocation are not automatically modeled. Overtime is not automatically treated as tax-free.

Florida pay stub calculator: what zero state tax means

Use this Florida paycheck calculator as a pay stub worksheet: the state wage income-tax line is zero, while federal withholding and employee deductions are still reviewed. Florida’s Department of Revenue confirms that Florida does not impose personal income tax. A zero state line does not determine another state’s treatment of work performed there. Florida personal income-tax guidance.

Employee deductions and employer costs belong in different columns

Health benefits, retirement contributions and post-tax deductions can reduce the employee payment. Employer unemployment charges belong to employer payroll cost rather than the employee income-tax line. Use actual records for items this estimator does not calculate. Do not deduct an employer cost from the employee’s wages simply to make the worksheet balance.

Worked Florida paycheck review

With $25 per hour, 80 regular hours, biweekly pay, Single federal status, no W-4 adjustments and no deductions, gross is $2,000. The existing federal estimate is $156.15, Social Security is $124 and Medicare is $29. Net is $1,690.85. Adding a $25 post-tax deduction gives $1,665.85. This example assumes no earlier taxable wages approaching the annual thresholds.

Build YTD from actual payroll records

For changing hours, bonuses or benefits, use actual prior gross, taxes, deductions and net in the main pay stub calculator’s YTD section. Repeating this period by a pay-period count is only an estimate; it cannot reconstruct different historical checks.

Florida review checklist

  1. Match the earnings and payment to the correct period.
  2. Enter the current W-4 and actual prior taxable wages.
  3. Check the treatment of each benefit rather than assuming every benefit is pre-tax.
  4. Review other-state obligations for multistate employment.
  5. Reconcile gross minus taxes and employee deductions to net.
Can I use a Florida address to remove another state’s withholding?

No. This interface does not determine residency, sourcing or reciprocity. Review the actual work and residence circumstances before entering another jurisdiction’s amount.
