Break / Lunch Time Calculator

Subtract an unpaid break from a shift and convert paid time to decimal hours.

Inputting Your Shift and Break Details

Free results. Data is not submitted to our server.

How it works

Elapsed minutes minus unpaid break minutes gives paid time. Select next-day end explicitly for overnight shifts. A clock-based break must fit within the shift. The result can prefill hours in the time card or paycheck calculator.

Example

9:00 to 17:00 with 30 unpaid minutes gives 450 paid minutes, or 7.5 hours.
